AB de Villiers makes a bright start to BBL career
South African batting maestro AB de Villiers conjured an impactful innings on his debut outing in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Proteas veteran came into the Brisbane Heat side in the place of the exiting Tom Banton and instantly made a mark with his exquisite drives and powerful pull shots.
De Villiers walked out into the middle with Brisbane in a bit of bother at 11/2 in pursuit of the paltry target of 111. He then punched Adelaide Strikers’ leg-spinner Rashid Khan for three boundaries of sublime cover drives.
Stabilizing Brisbane’s innings alongside Matt Renshaw, de Villiers made a significant contribution of 40 from 32 deliveries. Brisbane Heat eventually completed the chase inside 16 overs and with seven wickets in the hut. De Villiers’ bright start to his BBL career signals more ravishing batting displays to come in the future.
