Players under lime-light:

• Moeen Ali: The English all-rounder will have his first-ever appearance in the Pakistan Super League. Moeen has a lot of T20 experience behind him courtesy the amount of County Cricket he has played. His batting and off-spin skills will provide strength to Multan.

T20 batting average: 25.85 (146 matches); T20 bowling average: 26.50 (146 matches).

• Fabien Allen: The slow-orthodox left-arm bowler hailing from the Caribbean will also make his debut appearance in Pakistan Super League. The 24-year old has played for West Indies and Jamaica Tallawahs in the shortest format of the game. His slow left-arm spin will provide strength to the Multan Sultans.

• Rohail Nazir: Pakistan’s Under-19 captain has also sealed his place in the Multan Sultans’ side. The 18-year old has the experience of playing only 17 T20 matches. However, the right-handed batsman’s stint with the PSL franchise will be a great learning curve.

• Usman Qadir: Usman Qadir, the right-arm leg-spinner is also picked by Multan Sultans in the silver category. The leg-spinner was also selected in the Pakistan T20I squad for the series against Australia. Before this, Usman Qadir has played for the Big Bash League based franchise Perth Scorchers.

Multan Sultans, after being formed in 2017, played their inaugural PSL in 2018. In the two seasons the team played, they have won 7 out of 20 matches. This time around the management is keen to perform well and dominate the PSL season 5.
