Assaulting teammate lands Shahadat Hossain in a five-year ban
Bangladesh pacer Shahadat Hossain is finding himself in hot waters as the tall fellow has been banned by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for five years, with two years serving as a suspension period. Not only that, the 33-year old cricketer has been handled a fine worth BDT 100,000. This happened as he assualted a teammate during a match of the National Cricket League (NCL).
While featuring in a contest between Dhaka and Khulna, Shahadat physically assaulted spinner Arafat Sunny Jr after an argument over shining the ball. Other players intervened to cool the matter and restrained the paceman. In addition to that, Shahadat was withdrawn from the game. For his ban, the skillful pacer can appeal by November 26.
Being 33, the ban comes at an extremely wrong time for Shahadat as the age is not on his side. Moreover, his dream of getting back to donning the national colors has been hit badly as the discipline issue has left the cricketing board fuming. It remains to be seen how things fare for him in future.
