Dean Jones not in favour of Misbah's dual role
Pakistan were consigned to a 35-run loss in the second T20I to Sri Lanka in the three-match series. After the devastating defeat, former Australia cricketer Dean Jones has publicly declared his displeasure over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to appoint Misbah-ul-Haq as the head coach and chief selector.
Misbah began his tenure on a positive note with a 2-0 win in the ODI series but the no. 1 ranked Pakistan faced an abysmal series defeat in the shortest format. Dean Jones reckons players have a closer relationship with their coach but if that person is also the chief selector, this is bound to create troubles in harboring bonds with them.
Jones’ comments have added another layer of controversy to Misbah’s appointment in the dual role by the PCB, given the fact the Islamabad United head coach was also among the applicants for the Pakistan coaching job.
