Chairman of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi was recently honored for his significant public services in the field of sports and philanthropy. The business executive, who is the CEO of Haier Pakistan, was given the Hilal-e-Imtiaz during the grand ceremony held on Pakistan’s 72nd Independence Day on August 14.
Afridi has made hefty investments in upgrading the sports facilities in different regions across Pakistan. Moreover, he has been instrumental in the overall drive towards the gradual resumption of international cricket in the country.
His PSL team has grown leaps and bounds since the inception of the league and is currently the biggest sports entity in Pakistan.
Afridi’s organization – Zalmi Foundation – has made a difference to many underprivileged people through various initiative aiming at giving them the opportunity to lift themselves from their dire condition.
"I promised myself that I will serve my nation and especially empower the youth. My efforts are solely for the people of Pakistan and it is an honor for me that the Government of Pakistan has awarded me with this honor,” Afridi said on the auspicious occasion.
“On this moment, I pledge to my nation that our efforts will increase and we will work with more passion and determination. It is our foremost duty and we shall try our best in achieving our milestones,” he added.
