Sri Lanka Cricket suspends Madushanka after heroin arrest
Sri Lanka's cricket board has decided to suspend Shehan Madushanka from all forms of the game after he was arrested for the alleged possession of heroin.
The right-arm pacer is currently on a two-week remand following which he will be produced before the High Court.
Madushanka, 25, was stopped while driving his car amidst a nationwide coronavirus curfew on Sunday as police discovered over two grams of heroin in his vehicle.
He was soon detained by the police officials and was produced in front of the Pannala magistrate the next day.
"We have suspended him with immediate effect and he also cannot take part in any form of the game," stated SLC secretary Mohan de Silva.
De Silva further added that the young bowler will continue to remain suspended pending a full inquiry conducted by the board.
Madushanka made an immediate impact on his international debut two years ago when he claimed a hat-trick against Bangladesh in his sole ODI appearance.
He could play just two T20Is after the memorable 50-over clash, suffering a bout of injury that ruled him out for a prolonged period.
