Andy Flower appointed St Lucia Zouks head coach

Andy Flower has been named the new head coach of St Lucia Zouks for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League.

Flower's appointment comes a day after his selection as the assistant coach of Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.

"I am excited to lead and coach this team. I am a fan of the Caribbean Premier League and would love to be the coach to be associated with the team to bring victory home to the fans in St. Lucia," Flower was quoted as saying in the press release by the franchise.

The Zouks, who last advanced to the knockout stages in 2016, were sold to K.P.H. Dream Cricket Private Limited recently – the owners of Kings XI Punjab. This acquisition is in line with the owners of Kolkata Knight Riders buying the Trinbago franchise and rebranding it as Trinbago Knight Riders.

"I am delighted to have someone of the caliber and eminence of Andy Flower; we sure look forward to a great season ahead," Satish Menon, Kings XI Punjab's CEO, said.

Flower has worked as the assistant coach for England prior to his successful stint as head coach. Under his mentorship, England won the Ashes series home and away, clinched the T20 World Cup title in 2010 and became the top-ranked Test side in the world in 2011.

He also coached the Maratha Arabians to their maiden T10 League title last year. He is currently involved with the Multan Sultans set-up in the Pakistan Super League.
