Wasim Akram, Yuvraj Singh sign up for Bushfire Cricket Bash

Wasim Akram and Yuvraj Singh are the first confirmed international players set to take part in the Bushfire relief match, which will serve as the curtain-raiser to the Big Bash League final on February 8.

The exhibition match will feature a host of greats of the game and Australian sporting heroes beyond the scope of the cricket field coming together to raise funds for the victims of the devastating bushfires.

The addition of Akram comes after he declared his interest to be part of the cause. "I would love to be involved in any way I can to raise funds or to help the people in Australia," he told AAP last week.

Yuvraj, player of the tournament in India's 2011 World Cup win, will be joining compatriot Sachin Tendulkar for the Bushfire Cricket Bash as the batting maestro and West Indies legend Courtney Walsh were announced as coaches of the two teams.

The much-anticipated fixture will see Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne captain opposing sides on a day coined as The Big Appeal.

The Ponting XI-Warne XI clash is one of the three matches scheduled to take place on the same day including the BBL final and the women's T20I between India and Australia.

Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin, Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden, who will be reprising his opening combination with Justin Langer, are some of the former cricketers ready to compete in the headline act.

Elyse Villani, Grace Harris, 16-year-old prodigy Phoebe Litchfield are the active women's cricket stars that are expected to take the field in the fateful encounter.

Rugby league legend Brad 'Freddy' Fittler will also play along with Australian Rules footballer Luke Hodge, a four-time premiership-winning player.

In the illustrious line-up for the non-playing capacity roles, Steve Waugh and Mel Jones will be joined by Rugby League's Andrew Johns.

Playing squad:

Shane Warne (c), Ricky Ponting (c), Adam Gilchrist, Alex Blackwell, Andrew Symonds, Brad Fittler, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Elyse Villani, Grace Harris, Justin Langer, Luke Hodge, Matthew Hayden, Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey, Phoebe Litchfield, Shane Watson, Yuvraj Singh, Wasim Akram
