Javed Miandad irked by top Sri Lanka players' decision

It was supposed to be all good in terms of making headways in bringing cricket back to Pakistan but prominent Sri Lanka stars including Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, and Thisara Perera decision to back out from upcoming Pakistan tour has played a spoilsport. The news didn't sit well with Javed Miandad as he has urged Sri Lankan players to honor international commitment and asked the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to penalize players who have opted out of the tour.

Ten Sri Lankan players have pulled out of the tour, potentially making the contest a less competitive prospect as Pakistan look to carry good form before Australia tour in November.

SLC should penalize the ones who have opted out - Miandad

“International matches should be the top priority for the players and SLC should penalize the ones who have opted out of the Pakistan series. It does not matter which Sri Lankan players visit and Pakistan must only look to put up their best performances regardless of the visitors’ squad quality,” Miandad was quoted as saying by 'Dawn'.

Earlier, Ehsan Mani, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman cleared the cloud of uncertainty hanging around the proposed tour. "Discussions are going on and there has been no negative feedback from Sri Lanka Cricket. They have not said they will not come," Mani addressed the media.

Sri Lanka tour comprises three ODIs in Karachi and three T20s in Lahore starting from 27th September.
