Bangladesh drop Soumya Sarkar from T20I squad
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have excluded Soumya Sarkar from the squad for the ongoing tri-nation T20I series at home.
The selectors have called up two uncapped players in a further overhaul of the T20 set-up.
Opening batsman Mohammad Naim and batting all-rounder Aminul Islam will join the squad for the next couple of games after Bangladesh's senior players have failed to step up their performances.
Bangladesh collapsed to 60-6 in their opening match against Zimbabwe before teenager Afif Hossain rescued his side to achieve a thrilling three-wicket win.
Concerns continue to linger over the Bangladesh top-order after they were reduced to 32-4 against Afghanistan, eventually succumbing to a 25-run loss.
Soumya faced criticism for his poor outings in the tournament so far, having scored just four runs in two innings including a duck.
"He did not look in a very good form. So we thought better if we could try some new players," said BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
Pacers Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam have also made a return to the 15-member squad while Mahedi Hasan and Yeasin Arafat were released by the selectors.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play their next match against Zimbabwe in Chittagong on Wednesday.
They recently lost the one-off Test to minnows Afghanistan by a significant margin of 224 runs.
