South Africa tour of India 2019

Lance Klusener roped in as South Africa's assistant batting coach for India T20Is

Lance Klusener has been roped in as South Africa’s assistant batting coach for the India T20Is starting next month.

The former South Africa all-rounder previously worked with the national side when he was asked to help the lower order batsmen during their home series against England back in 2015.

Klusener will be working in the coaching setup which includes Vincent Barnes and Justin Ontong, who have taken up the roles of assistant bowling and fielding coach respectively.

"In terms of the new team structure, the team director appoints his three assistant coaches who have specific skills focus in the three key disciplines of batting, bowling and fielding," said Corrie van Zyl, Cricket South Africa's acting director.

"His [Klusener] record as one of the best allrounders in the world, particularly in white-ball cricket, during his playing career speaks for itself and he also has extensive coaching experience both at franchise and international level."

"He [Barnes] also has extensive coaching experience at international level and his knowledge of playing conditions in India will make his contribution invaluable," van Zyl added.

"Vincent currently also fills the role of the HP Bowling Lead for CSA. Ontong meanwhile has built up a strong relationship with the players over the last two years and is an acknowledged expert in this department."

South Africa will be touring India for three T20Is and as many Tests next month.
