Brampton Wolves: The latest entrant in GT20 Canada

Brampton Wolves will replace last year's runners-up West Indies B team for the second edition of the Global T20 Canada.

It had earlier been proposed to name the new franchise as New York Legends but reservations expressed by USA Cricket led to the last minute change.

Moreover, Wolves will also enter the six-team competition as the home side since all 22 matches this season are scheduled to be hosted at Brampton.

Brampton have packed their squad with some high-profile names in T20 cricket including the likes of Andre Russell, Shahid Afridi, Shakib Al Hasan and Darren Sammy.

The inaugural edition's leading run-scorer, Lendl Simmons - who represented Winnipeg Hawks in 2018 - has also been included in Brampton, forming a formidable opening pair alongside New Zealand's Colin Munro.

Vancouver Knights won the first season of GT20 Canada under the leadership of Chris Gayle and they would be banking on the veteran cricketer's vast amount of T20 experience to help retain the title this time as well.
