Ball-by-ball details & scorecard: Melbourne Stars v Perth Scorchers - Match 25 - Melbourne

Cameron Bancroft’s half-century and four wickets to Andrew Tye helped Perth Scorchers to just their second victory of the Big Bash League 2018.

Set 147 for victory by the Melbourne Stars after Dunk’s 62 off 47 balls, the Scorchers did it easily winning by six-wickets and with 14 balls to spare.

Bancroft struck two maximums and four boundaries in his 42-ball 59, before being stumped off Liam Bowe.

Despite a late scare after Dwayne Bravo picked up two quick wickets by bowling Ashton Agar and Hilton Cartwright, captain Ashton Turner saw the Scorchers home belting 43 off 22.

Earlier, fast bowler Tye responded from his ODI axing by producing his best performance of the Big Bash League.

Tye took 4-18 to set-up the Scorchers’ victory after the Stars got off to a flying start.

Opening pair Evan Gulbis and Dunk put on 65 for the opening stand before the former was caught in the deep by David Willey off Usman Qadir for 37.

Dunk and Seb Gotch put on 52 for the third-wicket, but the former’s exit for 62 slowed the Stars’ momentum.

Tye then ripped through the middle order, knocking over danger man Dwayne Bravo second ball, before taking the wickets of Jonthan Merlo for seven and Gotch for 18.

This was Scorchers’ second win of the campaign and kept their finals hopes alive and snapped the Stars’ three-match winning streak.
