Karachi Kings decide against retaining Shahid Afridi
Karachi Kings have released former captain Shahid Afridi ahead of the Pakistan Super League player draft, which will take place on November 20 in Islamabad.
They have retained Colin Munro, Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir in the Platinum Category, while Colin Ingram has been relegated to the Diamond Category. He was appointed as the player ambassador by the franchise.
Kings have released Luke Wright, Eoin Morgan, Usama Mir, Khurram Manzoor and Mohammad Irfan Jr.
Peshawar Zalmi retained Wahab Riaz and Hassan Ali in the Platinum Category. Kamran Akmal was named ambassador and was brought down to Diamond from Platinum.
They have released Tamim Iqbal, Haris Sohail, Chris Jordan, Hammad Azam, Mohammad Hafeez and Andre Fletcher.
Quetta Gladiators have retained Sarfraz Ahmed and Sunil Narine in Platinum. Shane Watson was named mentor and was relegated to Diamond.
Defending champions Islamabad United are the only franchise to retain a maximum of ten players. They kept hold of Luke Ronchi, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan in the Platinum Category.
Lahore Qalandars have retained Fakhar Zaman in Platinum, Yasir Shah in Diamond, Anton Devcich in Gold, Agha Salman and Sohail Akhtar in Silver. The pace-bowling sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi is ambassador for the franchise and agreed to go down a category. He has also been retained in the Silver category. Hassan Khan and Rahat Ali were ropped in by the Qalandars from Quetta Gladiators.
The Qalandars have released Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mustafizur Rahman, Sohail Khan, Bilawal Bhatti and Gulraiz Sadaf.
The Sixth Team retained Shoaib Malik in the Platinum Category, while Mohammad Irfan was named as ambassador and taken down to the Diamond Category.
The fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League commences on February 14 in the UAE.
