Sydney Sixers have secured local bragging rights and a spot in the semi-finals, defeating Sydney Thunder by 9 wickets at the SCG. The hosts stifled the men in green with a superb display in the field, before a composed partnership between Daniel Hughes and James Vince saw them to the revised target with plenty of ball remaining. Rain arrived between innings and kept interrupting proceedings but it just meant that the ball skidded on nicely during the chase, in contrast to the two-paced stickiness of the first dig. The crowd were rewarded for their patience and those wearing magenta will be delighted with the outcome. The BBL continues tomorrow with a double-dose of action from Adelaide and Perth.
