Perth Scorchers defeated the Sydney Sixers by seven wickets, courtesy fifties from opener Cameron Bancroft and skipper Ashton Turner.
Chasing a target of 178, Bancroft made a brisk start despite opening partner Michael Klinger falling early. The 26-year-old added 50 runs for the second wicket with Sam Whiteman (22), before Turner joined him in the middle. The duo added 98 runs for the third wicket partnership to take sting out of the chase.
Turner smashed 60 off 30 balls including four boundaries and three maximums before being caught a deep midwicket off Sean Abbot. Scorchers reached home with seven balls to spare, with Bancroft remaining not out on 87 off 61 balls including eight fours and one six.
Abbot, Ben Dwarshuis and Benjamin Manenti shared the three wickets to fall.
Earlier, Matt Kelly and Andrew Tye shared two wickets each to restrict Sixers to 177/5. Scorchers continued to chip in with wickets at regular intervals. Kelly removed Jack Edwards (17) and English import James Vince (28) while leggie Usman Qadir had Daniel Hughes caught & bowled for 36.
Skipper Moises Henriques smashed 38 off 21 balls including four boundaries and two sixes, while some short cameos from wicketkeeper Josh Phillipe and Tom Curran powered Sixers to a very good total.
The Scorchers host the Hobart Hurricanes on January 18, while Sixers will play host to Melbourne Renegades on January 16.
