Player Of The Match
14.5 - B Dwarshuis to E Gulbis
Short, to leg on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. A comprehensive victory for the Melbourne Stars. The spinners, led by Sandeep Lamichhane (2-18), worked well with the seamers to restrict the Sixers to 130, predominantly by keeping pace off the ball. Any hopes the Sixers had that 130 might be defendable were quashed by Peter Handscomb who returned to the side with a quickfire 70 from 35 balls. The Stars are off and running in BBL08 and will look to carry their form into the Melbourne derby on New Year's Day.
14.4 - B Dwarshuis to E Gulbis
Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Philippe.
14.3 - B Dwarshuis to E Gulbis
Back of a length, off stump on the back foot cutting, to gully for no runs, fielded by Abbott.
14.2 - B Dwarshuis to M Stoinis
Length ball, off stump on the back foot cutting, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Philippe. Stoinis will be disappointed not to be there at the end. A soft dismissal after a wonderful back foot drive the previous ball.
14.1 - B Dwarshuis to M Stoinis
Back of a length, to leg on the back foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs.
1 2 1 1 1 4
13.6 - J Denly to D Bravo
Leg spinner length ball, off stump on the front foot slog sweeping, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Bravo attacks and the Stars have victory in their sights.
